Wild Fern

Natural herb tea, a mix of grappa of Trentino and common polypody roots (Polypodium vulgare).

This is a delicate bright-green fern, a very common plant in our woods. It grows spontaneously in shady, moist places covered with moss. Its root smells and tastes of licorice. It is picked up between spring and autumn and it is no more than 40 cm high.

Other common names of this plant are “sweet fern”, “mountain licorice” or “sweet root”.
